QUICK HOMEMADE DROBD (LIVER PATE LOAF) – A TRADITIONAL FAMILY FAVORITE
This quick drob recipe is based on one my mother made long before I was born 🙂 It pairs wonderfully with fresh salad for a simple, comforting meal.
🕒 Prep Time: 15 min
🍳 Cook Time: 30 min
🍽️ Servings: 6
Ingredients
- 400 g purchased liver pate (any type; I used goose pate)
- 6 heaping tbsp cooked rice
- 3 scallions (green onions), chopped
- 3 sprigs dill, chopped
- 1/4 bunch parsley, chopped
- 2 hard-boiled eggs, diced
- 2 raw eggs, lightly beaten
- 1 tbsp breadcrumbs
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- A little oil (for greasing)
- 1 egg (for brushing)
- 1 tbsp sour cream
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine pate, cooked rice, diced hard-boiled eggs, and chopped herbs. Season with salt and pepper. Since purchased pate is usually well seasoned, use about ½ tsp salt and adjust pepper to taste.
- Add raw beaten eggs and breadcrumbs to the mixture. Stir until fully combined.
- Grease a 25 x 10 cm loaf pan with oil. Pour the mixture into the pan and smooth the surface with the back of a spoon.
- Mix the egg and sour cream and brush this over the top.
- Bake at 180°C (356°F) for 30 minutes until firm and golden.
- Let cool, then carefully invert onto a serving plate.
- Serve with a mixed fresh salad for a delightful meal.
💡 Tips
- Use quality purchased pate for best flavor.
- Adjust seasoning carefully since pate can be salty.
- Let drob cool completely before removing from pan to keep its shape.
- Perfect for festive meals or everyday dinners.
