🥄 Ingredients
- 220 ml lukewarm water
- 2 tbsp oil (plus extra for greasing)
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 packet dry yeast (approx. 3.5–4 g)
- 1 medium onion (approx. 100 g)
- 1/2 bunch fresh dill, finely chopped
- 350 g all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
👩🍳 Instructions
- Prepare onion and dill:
- Finely chop the onion and sauté it gently in 1 tablespoon oil until soft.
- Chop the dill finely.
- Make the dough:
- If using a bread machine:
- Add all ingredients, including sautéed onion and dill, to the machine.
- Use the knead and rise program.
- Once finished, let the dough rest in the machine for another hour.
- If making by hand:
- Dissolve yeast and sugar in lukewarm water.
- Combine with flour, salt, oil, sautéed onion, and dill.
- Knead until elastic and smooth, dough should pull away from hands.
- Place in a covered bowl in a warm place to rise for about 2 hours until doubled.
- Shape and second rise:
- Turn the risen dough onto a floured surface. Shape it into a long loaf.
- Grease a 12 cm x 30 cm loaf pan with oil and place the dough inside.
- Place the pan inside a plastic bag or cover with a cloth and let rise in a warm spot for 30-45 minutes.
- Bake:
- Preheat oven to 200°C.
- Bake the bread for 30-35 minutes until golden on top.
- Cool:
- Remove from oven and let cool before slicing.
- Store in a plastic bag to keep soft.
